HeikoGrusdat Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 ...are not good Here is a old man with one neck order (unknown) , one breast star (unknown) and a 5 place Frackspange with , you can imagine, something unknown on it........... N?1 red eagle , N?2 crown order and N?4 Centenarmedal are clear... N?3 is too blurry for a statement (for me) and N?5 is unknown again....under the photo is written:Kapit?n Ed. Kopff (Eduard? Ropff? ) , no date and no place....If someone would be so nice to help me with the unknown ones......thank youHeiko
Guest Rick Research Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 What freakish handwriting! Rapit?n Ed. Ropff!!! Actually, Kapit?n Edmund Kopff is shown in the 1908-09 Orders Almanach with Red Eagle and Crown Orders 4th Class, 3rd medal is the 1870/71 War Medal, then 1897 Centenary. The last I suspect is Something Foreign NOT listed in the Orders Almanach, but Too Non-Epson to see.The neck and breast stars are the Venezuelan Order of the Bust of Bolivar-Commander with Star. His entry simply says "Kapit?n aD, Oevelg?nne-Altona."Perhaps somebody with the Prussian Orders Lists could add more from his entries to the two Prussian awards. Obviously merchant navy and somebody who traversed the Atlantic.
HeikoGrusdat Posted June 24, 2009 Author Posted June 24, 2009 :speechless: please forgive me Rick.................. it is too late for these things ..... of course it must be Kopff if the letter in KOPFF is the same than in KAPIT?N Ah....... Venezuela , I will put this in the "never forget section" in my head..... the last medal will be a bit blurry with epson too... not good to see , around goes a circle with text and in the middle is something like a crest (???) ......
Beau Newman Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 From the ribbon, #3 appears to be the 1870/71 campaign medal. To be mounted after the Centenary, #5 is probably something foreign.
