AndyD Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Hello,I thought some of you may like to see this badge and certificate awarded to my Grandma for making Swordfish 'planes during the Second World War.I've had the badge for a while, but have only recently got the certificate, which was found when my Mum was going through some of her Mothers things.I don't know if they are rare, but I've certainly never seen another example!Kind regards,Andy
Mike Dwyer Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Sweet, very sweet! I love to see things on the forum that have a personal, family, connection.
leigh kitchen Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I've never seen one of these. The closest I've got to this type of thing is the telephone company badge & certificate I posted a few weeks ago, nice little things to have especially with the family connection.
Mervyn Mitton Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Leigh - nice to have you back. I agree a very nice item with the family connection.. What does amaze me is that they were still making them in 1944 !! Please correct me if I'm wrong , but if I remember the Swordfish was on our early aircraft carriers and were responsible for torpedoing the Bismarck ? However, would'nt we have had something more modern by this date ?
