I just returned from a trip to Korea and brought this back (thank you again Hugh & 922F), as I was told it is very hard to buy medals there because it's against the korean law. but with some help of a friend in seoul I could convince the shopkeeper to sell me this piece:

this is primarily a military award.

This looks very similar to a contemporary piece I got from the manufacturer in Seoul a few years ago. Can't remember who, but someone had a good rundown on the "generations" of this and other Korean ODM a while back.
