Ww1 Enlistment Records

Apologies for another question but I just have so many ! Is it possible to locate the enlistment records of soldier ? If it is how does one go about locating / researching them? Thanks again. Louise

You can check via the Ancestry website - they have records upto about "P" I believe on- line. The National Archives has all the WW1 Service records that are still in exisitence (provided they were discharged from the Army prior to 1922) on microfilm but NOT on-line.

Unfortunately though a large amount of the service records were destroyed due to enemy action in 1940 and a lot of the ones that remained were badly damaged as well.

I've checked Ancestry.co.uk for the service records of Samuel & re "T" Proud with negative result. They may ne there, but I have'nt found them.
