Guest Rick Research Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 WOW! Some amazing "random" awards in there (quite a few of which we now have the Rolls for ) but Chris B will take note of the TINY number of "Anerkennungurkunden" I am FLOORED by the HUGE discrepancy between the vastly more Iron Crosses than "native" Friedrich August Medals-- would NEVER have expected that. That seems to suggest, in contrast with other states which handed out their OWN awards, that Saxony handed out Prussian Iron Crosses BEFORE their own basic enlisted ranks' medals! :speechless1:
Guest Rick Research Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Went away and compared some of the totals from the regimental summary above with the actual Rolls Listed: 13 SMMs (yes—or at least 13 have already been transcribed by me into early 1916 at the 7,000 mark) there was also a single SMK not listed in the summary “1 MStMV”—actually 3 to 2 people—an officer StH-R holder had both the 1st AND 2nd Class 2 Weimar White Falcons-KnightsX—neither on the existing Rolls 2 Ernestine-KnightsX—yes 1 Ernestine Merit CrossX—yup (and that’s him in the photo) 1 BZ-Knight X—actually there were 3 “1 Baden MKFVM” is probably a mistake for the ordinary Silver Merit Medal on MKFVO “war” ribbon 4 Saxe-Weimar “awards”—yes, 2 Gold and 2 Silver General Decorations X 1 Lübeck Hanseatic Cross—actually 2
