Guest Rick Research Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Here's an obscure antedeluvian reference source-- "The Honor-Mirror of the I&R Austrian Army" Oddly enough, it's good paper and well bound.
Guest Rick Research Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 A sample of how each decoration is dealt with-- statutes summary, physical description, then a list of holders by class but without any award dates. The exception is for the Austrian Bravery Medals which simply have statistics on numbers by unit and no names. "Kids today" seem toexpect that "everything should be online" but actually holding a book like this--179 years old--feeling the texture of the paper and the letters pressed through (like Braille), the subtle shades of age spots, the smell of old paper... can't get that off a CD. Here's to books!
Mark C Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Here's the Google Books link, thanks to the copy held by Harvard University - http://books.google.com/books?id=O0lAAAAAYAAJ&dq=Ehrenspiegel&lr=&source=gbs_navlinks_s And whenever I want to handle something old, I pick up a rock. Most of them are a few hundred million years old.
