Grimgork Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Hey guys! I have a question about commander Obstlt Hans Wittich. He was the Kdr of the saxonien infantry regiment 133, I own his uniform but I still search for a photo of him, were you can see him wearing his awards. Especially his medalbar. He was winner of the "Miltärischer St.Heinrichorden, Kommandeurskreuz" and the " Albrechtsorden Offizierskreuz mit Schwertern" So if anyone has a photo of him it would be great if you can post it here. Regards Florian
Guest Rick Research Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Rudolf Hans Wittich Saxon St Henry-Commander 02.12.17 Saxon Albert-Officer X 17.04.18 Saxon St Henry-Knight 11.03.15 Saxon Merit Order- Knight 1st X 18.11.16 Saxon Albert Order Xs to Knight 1st with Crown 31.10.14 (replacing that peacetime class) Prussian Hohenzollern House Order 3X gazetted 02.12.16-- you would need his military personnelrecord for the actual date-- all the others here ARE the actual award dates Sachsen-Meiningen War Merit Cross 06.06.17 and obviously both Iron Crosses and the Saxon XXV Years Military Service Cross No other pre-war awards and no others known for the war from all the award rolls we have transcribed and published or are going to publish.
Grimgork Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 Hi Rick ! Thanks for reply. The saxonien XXV Years Military Service Cros was new to me, the rest of its awards I knew before. He had some quite more. I also have all its promotions. If you want I can post it. Here's one picture of him but its from a book and in no good quality, so that you can't zoom into the picture to identify the medalbar.
Guest Rick Research Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) Alas that is too much "newspaper" quality to see detail Ribbon bar = StH3 SV3aX of the next two, one should be SA3aXmKr and no idea what the other with X is HOH3X EK2 no idea SMK (appears to have logical but unauthorized crown device) Saxon XXV So that leaves two awards the late Erhard Roth did not have and that we have not seen on the awards rolls we have done. It may be, ribbons 3 and 4, that he has chosen to wear his SA3X Offizierkreuz as a ribbon bar "Kleindekoration" since all that shows here is his EK1. If you can see whether those two ribbons are the same, but there is a plain X device ahead of an X under Crown, that is what those are. Edited January 20, 2010 by Rick Research
