zarusthra Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I have a really nice MVK2 which looks great but one strange thing: both sides are enamel - not just the front! anybody know this variation? cold it be pre gold class 1?
Tim Tezer Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Are the arms enameled, or just the center medallions?
zarusthra Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 just the center's are enameled i have a gold class 1 and several class three's but none have both sides enameled (obviously no enamel on the three's) I have a 4th class mv order and this looks like it more with the exception of the enamel and flames around the center. I am just wondering if this medal could be an original mvk - before they split into 2 then three classes. Also the swords are loose and I think could have been added after
Tim Tezer Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 It sounds like it might be just be a variant, maybe one made by a non-Bavarian maker. Photos would help. Tim
avadski Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Hello, pieces with both centers enameled were made by Godet in 1920s'. As far as I know these were kind of replacement copies of original items, but maybe i'm wrong. Please post some pics.
avadski Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Please post also a pic of your 1st class. It always thrills me when I hear somebody has one in his collection Thx.
