Guest Rick Research
Here is yet another soooooooooooooo close Saxon Short List group: SV3bX, SA3aX, SA3bX, EK2, Silesian Eagle with Xs authorized in 1921—in every imaginable method of wear including French style rosettes! Note that all of the lapel ribbons only have one Albert (and no microscopic X devices)—but all these came together years ago. As a trio—SV3bX (and there was not a single trio where it was a SV3aX), SA3aX, SA3bX—285 Saxon officers received this but virtually all of them had the “Saint Henry quartet.” Only 11 had no other ribboned German WW1 awards. The Silesian Eagles of 1919-1921 were, of course, “invisible” in official sources. Of the 11, one may hopefully either be confirmed or excluded by his portrait photo in the sadly defunct Biblio Army Generals’ series— BILHARZ, Eugen: Generalmajor (1886-1963) The other 10 possible wearers were: BRÜCKNER, Hans: Dr., Stabsarzt dR IR 139 HAUFFE, Martin: Hauptmann FAR 245 HELSIG, Kurt: Hauptmann dL RIR 102 HONECKER, Wolfgang: Dr., Stabsarzt dR IR 102 MAURER, Johannes: Hauptmann FAR 64 QUECK, Karl: Oberleutnant dL LIR 10 SCHREITERER, Max: Hauptmann dR Mun Kol 942 STELZNER, Albert: Hauptmann dR Staff of Art Kdr 137 ULBRICHT, Friedrich: Hauptmann Staff of GenKdo XIX. AK And WALTER, Erich: Hauptmann FAR 78 In this case, ABSENCE of OTHER awards actually narrowed down the list of potential recipients… Thus far and no further! :banger:
Guest Rick Research
There was a 12th suspect, but I have this photo of later-Generalleutnant Konrad Haase circa 1934/35 and... noooo Silesian Eagle:
