Andy_F Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Can anyone tell me if the "PRU" used this crest during the WWII period. I believe the attached Crest is post war due to the crown, can anyone confirm this. Best Regards
leigh kitchen Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Don't know about wartime usage, but yes, the badge you show is post WWII - it shows the current queen's crown.

leigh kitchen Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 I checked re. WWII usage of the crest with someone who's very knowledgable about RAF matters, the reply was "No 1 PRU was formed on 16 Nov 40, so there is a good chance that it was".
Andy_F Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 Hi Leigh, Thanks for checking. As you say 1 PRU was formed 16 Nov 40 by re-designating the PRU. 3 PRU was formed on the 16 Nov 40 also. I've never seen the crest on photos of WWII 1 PRU aircraft in books but photo recce aircraft tended to have minimal markings.
