Kev in Deva Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Hallo Gents, after attending the Collectors Fair in Cluj-Napoca I had the oppertunity to spend a couple of days in the small community of "Mihai Vitezu"/ Michael the Great, while there I took a trip to the nearby town of Turda, to visit the Graveyard, on one of the first gravestones I found near the main gates was these pictures:- http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_06_2010/post-950-127563196873.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_06_2010/post-950-127563230529.jpg Kevin in Deva.

Mike Dwyer Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 This is an indication to the Society / Order he belonged:- CRUCIFERI SANCTI STEPHANI REGIS Order of the Cross of King Saint Stephen. Kevin in Deva. Kev, My Hungarian is basically non-existant, but he's also a Knight of the Order of Vitéz, and I believe it also says he is a Count (Grof).
Iver Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 ...I don´t think that on those photos is the same man... only one was "vitez" (like the man on the photo in the coat of order of St. George), but that man was born only in 1917 and could not have so many A-H decorations ...and the last one has many titles, but some of them are really strange :speechless:
Iver Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) ....and here U have his newer photo... btw, a friend wrote me, that the "vitez" order is dissociating from his person...and.. on the photo U can see also Order of Leopold - knights cross with swords.. I would like to know, how could he be awarded.. ??? :banger: Edited June 4, 2010 by Iver
Josef Rietveld Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Very interesting variant of the Order of the Iron Crown IIIrd Class the Oberleutnant is wearing. Is this a Photo with added drawings of the decorations or a real Photo? josef

Iver Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) picture looks to be original, but the decorations maybe "overpainted". what is the black stain under EKO.III and MVK (and also under all of medals but not so big)? why is KTK so big as STM.1? and whats the ribbon in button hole? Hallo Iver, my opinion is from looking at the picture in daylight, while taking it, there is some fading to the original caused by time / sunlight and there is also a thick clear varnish over the picture which is somehow applied to a ceramic oval piece used for mounting in the monument. It might have been caused during the process of fixing to the ceramic. I am not an expert on A-H awards and ribbons, I only take the pictures. Kevin in Deva.
