Gordon Williamson Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Looking for some advice here on identifying pieces I am still missing. Posted this on the British and Commonwealth Forum but I know there are several SA specialists here. I think I have all the basic badges worn by the SACMP/SAMPK. I know however that there are seveal different Chrome versions of the modern badge with enamel unit badges. I just have one example at the moment but have seen others from time to time (Gauteng, East Province, Transvaal etc )but don't know how many there are all together. Can anyone advise which others there are. For Rhodesia I still need the SRCMP Badge and Title. For India there is an "IMP" shoulder title but I have no idea exactly how many different India/Pakistan Cap or Shoulder badges there are in total. If anyone can point out any badges/shoulder titles I am missing for Africa/India I'd be grateful.
Mervyn Mitton Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) Gordon - post 8 - under Police of the World, shows an Indian Police Service Supt's uniform - with cross belt and both plates. No hat. Would you be interested to buy this as a centrepiece for your collection. The silver badges will clean-up beautifully. Alternatively, I might consider just the cross belt - but, really a pity to split them. Mervyn ps. Heynes dated it to pre WW1. Edited November 25, 2010 by Mervyn Mitton
Gordon Williamson Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 Hi Mervyn Thanks for the kind offer but I'm more into badges/insignia with my British & Commonwealth stuff and really only Military Police ( I know that in some cases the para-military aspect of some forces blurs the divide between civil and military police!) . Don't really have the space to display uniforms. The two uniforms I own and handful of caps are all stored away in a closet as I've nowhere to display them, militaria having to compete for space with my Vivariums in a smallish room !
