sabrigade Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I recently purchased this tunic which is attributed to A220 Corporal Edwin Claude Rose of the British South Africa Police. He was a member of the Southern Rhodesia Column.
sabrigade Posted December 4, 2010 Author Posted December 4, 2010 The King's Certificate of discharge This certificate was awarded under the auspices of Army Orders 138 and 139 in May 1918. Rose was discharged in 1916 and, by looking at the War service stripes on the tunic, would have been entitled to a 1914-15 star. Any details regarding his service would be appreciated.

sabrigade Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 Thank you for the excellent feedback, I will start my research from here! Regards, Will
Mervyn Mitton Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Lovely old tunic Will. The buttons look to be a very early type with the spear in this position. The Rhodesia Regt. was disbanded at one point and then re-formed. Still, with the info. from 1314 at least you have something to start from.
leigh kitchen Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Initially A member of 1 Rhodesia Regiment, entitled to 1914-15 Star, BWM & VM, first theatre of war entered was "4a" on 3/10/1915. The MIC shows his details as a member of The BSAP as those on the Star, & theres a note that the Star was claimed by 1 Rhod Regt.
