Mervyn Mitton
I would say, yes. I think it is called a cantle.. Look on Google for Scottish Arms and also Regimental Arms - should be easy to identify. The Argylls seems to 'ring a bell' for at least the end one.
GRA
Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, but what battalion or level (private/NCO/WO/officer) I do not know. Mervyn's advice of Googling is sound - try "a&sh collar badges" and do a Google image search and you'll find the boar's head and the wildcat confirming at least the regiment! /Jonas
ACOlander
Better late than never as they say, but the cantle pictured would be a piper's sporran to the A&SH. Cheers, Christian
Mervyn Mitton
Hi - Christian - welcome to GMIC. Never too late for comments - you will be amazed at some of the posts that re-surface. You say a piper's sporran - does that mean that they used this copper finish ? I am surprised that it wasn't silver plated - copper corrodes so quickly. Tell us a little about yourself - where you are - what you collect - what sort of work etc. - alwys helps to know a little about the people we correspond with.
