And a little gem that just arrived today, picked up on EBay for just £1.99. Note the safety chain worn with the SWB. Not clear until it is blown up quite considerably, but on his tie is worn a fouled anchor pin which would suggest he either a Royal Navy or Merchant Navy recipient.

Still looking for the elusive "MN" and "O" prefixes but doubt if I will ever see the ultra-rare "N" for Newfoundland badges.

Nice set ........ and I'm jealous. Been slowly collecting these myself, have a SA, RN, NZ and B versions, did have one with no prefix, but was contacted by the persons grandson who saw it after I had bought it (it came with documentation) so I returned the badge to the family.

I still watch out for these, and for the Canadian enameled Services Rendered at the Front badge which are hard to find.

Ancestry have just put the Silver War Badge database online - http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=2456&o_xid=49820&o_lid=49820&o_sch=Email

Of course, you need a subscription to read it - but perhaps not tonight - there is free access to war time records today in honour of Pearl Harbour.
