Guest Rick Research Posted May 10, 2005 Posted May 10, 2005 (edited) 1-- Capture2-- Disarmament & field interrogation3-- Removal from the front4-- Transport5-- Camp6-- Release2: Here is a frontline snapshot taken by a native Hamburger, an Unteroffizier in a Pioneer unit who cheerfully sent back all sorts of views he had taken to his fianc?e.This is somewhere far enough back for strolling in the open, but surely within range of cannonfire... a row of freshly captured poilus head back, lightly escorted by German horsemen, as German troops pass headed forward.Imagine them looking into each others eyes as they passed-- one direction headed for safety, the other towards death, brightly colored flowers in the barbed wire foreground lending a real-time "All Quiet On The Western Front" feeling.
