What do I have gunpowder container??

Hi guys had this a few years could anyone tell me a bit more about this it's extremely heavy and I assume it's to transport gunpowder? Any info greatly appreciated

We have a similar container Ponsanooth History Group, Cornwall from 1877 from the nearby Kennall vale gunpowder works, there is the remains of a makers plate that says it was made at Wapping Wall London. Design is similar.
