kriegsmarine Kriegsmarine Destroyer badge bu G.W.L

Hi gents, and sorry if this is in the wrong area, I am making my first post.

I have acquired a Destroyer war badge by G.W.L that is causing me a little concern. I have the book by Gordon Williamson and also by Weber/Skorza. The concern I have is that the data in the Kriegsmarine Awards Vol 1 by Weber/Skorza stated that the catch and pin of the award are steel. Mine is not. It only provides data on the one type. Can anyone cast any light on whether the G.W.L badge was made with a non magnetic catch and pin? Matches every other detail, but this is concerning me.
