Australian DPCU Mystery Item?

I brought this home from Afghanistan with a lot of other Aussie field gear I traded for but do not remember what it was used for? Any Aussie field gear experts out there? Each of the 4 pouches measures closed flap - 13" x 2.5" x 2.5" and each pocket is 7" deep, its not for AR or AUG mags!

Any help appreciated.

I was thinking about it and the only thing I can come up with is that this is a pouch to hold 4-  M-127A1 Parachute Signal/Illumination Flares. Anyone else???
