I just have found through a collector/dealer a pair of small tags apparently removed from the Graf Spee mounted on small section of wood.... Now you would tell me, how to verify the authenticity and what value does it have?  The only thing I know is that the British removed a great deal of equipment during the war and this piece was obviously a souvenir... I can also tell you that this piece was acquired in Argentina along with a document of a sailor named Kurt Loeper interned in Martin Garcia Island from that ship, though unrelated...

    The plates read as follows...

    PLATE 1
    Cartridge extractor f.
    28 cm Hulsen cartridges

    PLATE 2
    76 For ventilation
    Ventilation control lever
    in closed position

The second plate might have something to do with the armament, but I'm not sure... If anyone has any other additional information as to what it could be I would appreciate it... Thank you.
