No one Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Dear Gentlemen, Chad's Marching Regiment / Régiment de Marche du Tchad (RMT) It was created in Morocco in July 1943 from the metropolitan personnel of the Senegalese Tirailleurs Regiment of Chad (RTST) and metropolitan and European elements rallied in North Africa, under the command of Colonel Dio. From 1940 onwards, the RTST had participated in the operations led by Colonel Lerclerc in Italian Libya from Chad. After the capture of Kufra, the men present took the oath requested by Leclerc: "Swear not to lay down your arms until our colours, our beautiful colours, fly over the cathedral of Strasbourg". By decision of 17 January 1944, the Chadian Marching Regiment was proclaimed heir to the traditions of the Senegalese Tirailleurs Regiment of Chad. The Croix de Guerre with two palms and the fourragère in the colours of the Croix de Guerre are thus conferred on the flag of the Chad's Marching Regiment and was distinguished as a Companion of the Liberation.
