No one Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Dear Gentlemen, The term "tabor" comes from the Turkish "tabur" meaning "battalion" either directly or through the Arabic طابور "ṭābūr" itself derived from Turkish. Created in Indochina on January 1, 1950, the Moroccan Tabor Group in the Far East (GTMEO) was disbanded on January 19,1951 and replaced by the Moroccan Tabor Command in the Far East, which was itself disbanded in November 1954, at the departure of the last Tabors from the theatre. It was in operational command of elements engaged in operations "VINCENT" (January18 to 23 ,1950) and "PARPAING" (May 27 April to 7, 1950) and the clearing of the Dong Khê post (May 25 to 30, 1950). From June 1 to 20,1950, forming the Lumière group, it operated around Dong Khê. Engaged from September 16, 1950 in a new operation to clear Dong Khê, it became the Bayard group on September 17 and participated in the combats of RC 4: operation "TIZNIT" (October 1 and 2, 1950) then operation "THERESE" (October 3 to 8, 1950). The insignia of the Moroccan Tabor Group in the Far East (Groupement de Tabors Marocains d'Extrême-Orient - G.T.M.E.O.), non homologué, André Mardini 7 rue Saint Augustin Paris: Yours sincerely, No one 1
