ChrisKelly Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago "Soldbuch to Stabsgefreiter Robert Keller, opened 17th of August 1939. First serving with Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment 162 and Infanterie-Regiment 250, this older soldier served with Baupionier units later in the war. He was mainly with Bau-Pionier-Bataillon 305 on the Eastern Front. From early 1942, the Bataillon received many POW's in its ranks, and was thus got the suffix "(K)" after its name, for "Kriegsgefangene". Keller received the Ostmedaille and KVK2 with this unit and also earned a Nahkampftag late 1942. Keller was moved to Heeres-Baupionier-Brigade 8 in December 1944 and saw action during the final days of the war east of the Elbe. Here, he met his tragic fate: after fighting every single day of the war, and spending not one single day in hospital, Robert Keller was killed in action on 8th of May 1945, last day of the war. He was killed near Reichenberg, now Liberec in the Czech Republic, and is buried in Marienbad, Marianske Lazne."
