    Is the piping actually ORANGE and not red?

    Behrens is certainly a Mecklenburg-Schwerin family name-- 90 of them on the WW1 MMV Rolls--and not a blessed one with a first name. There were only 5 over in -Strelitz--all first names no Wilhelm.

    Don't know about orange piping... maybe early scraps and left overs Gendarmerie early 1920s?

    I think Behrends is a pretty common north German name. Plenty of them in Hannover and Ostfriesland. That paper tag does not look like a wartime label. Most imperial era private purchase caps that had manufacturer marks had them imprinted on the lining or embossed into the sweatband.
