Guest Rick Research Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Prince Ludwig of Bavaria, dated 1892:In 1913 he could hardly wait for his Papa-- the ancient Prince-Regent Luitpold, to cool before having himself proclaimed King Ludwig III (1845-1921) while his crazy younger cousin the nominal-King Otto had 3 more years of life.Taken by Hof-Photographer Bernh. Dittmar, M?nchen.

saschaw Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) Iron Cross 1870 "Prinzchen" sized1870/71 MedalRussian Order of St. georgeBaden XXV Years Service cRossBaden Campaign Medal (with no bars-- ? ribbon too small)Prussian 1879 Golden Wedding Jubilee medalMecklenburg-Schwerin 1870 Friedrich Franz Cross 2??? MedalThe last one is Schaumburg, from better and later pictures. What a ugly medal bar he wears at this time... he later added, don't ask me how and why, a knight's cross of the Karl Friedrich merit order (whose grand master he was, of course), a Dutch order and the stuff that comes by time - Prussian 1897, oaks to the EK, three clasps to the 1870 medal - and two clasps onto his Baden Felddienst-Auszeichnung. Those could have been worn from 1866/1871 on, but there wasn't enough space on that ugley bar, as we can see. A similar and "his" medal bar is shown in WHM Rastatt, but I have my doubts about it... some stuff is missing, and one of the clasps on the FDA ist "1848."... PS: you missed to mention the Schaumburg medal at W?rttemberg's Wilhelm II., too. ;) Edited May 2, 2009 by saschaw
