ANDY BUTKUS Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 [attachmentid=45337]Could someone please help me identify this medal..?
Mike Dwyer Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 (edited) Based on the small portion of the heraldic shield that you can see on the chest of the double-headed eagle, I'd say it from the Kingdom of Serbia/Yugoslavia. The obverse looks like King Peter II, but he wasn't king until WW2 era. The medal has 1915 on the back, so perhaps that's Crown Prince Alexander who was regent from 1916 until 1921. Other than that, I have no idea what it is. Sorry. Edited June 29, 2006 by Mike Dwyer
Mike Dwyer Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 (edited) I just found it on the Royal House of Yugoslavia's web site. It is the Commemorative Medal for the Albanian Campaign, or Albanian Retreat medal. It was instituted on 5 April 1920 by the Prince-Regent Aleksandar (Alexander), future King Aleksandar I.Here's a link to the web page: http://www.royalfamily.org/history/medals10.htm Edited June 29, 2006 by Mike Dwyer
