    Well, the 1st one does say "2600 Year" so that is a match-- a cheaper presentation version?

    Thanks Rick :cheers: I am in the procces of purchasing some reference books on Japanese medals

    Larry ... first German, then Belgium .. now Japanese !! :shame:

    Next thing you know it will be Russian !!! :P

    P.S. Nice Japanese stuff .... so far the temptation has only been Victory medals from that country :unsure:

    The paper wrapper was used to protect the medal when it was sent from the Mint until it was presented. It is NOT a cheaper from of presentation despite what some dealers will try to tell you. It is a protective wrapper, that is all. They normally have the name of the medal written on them and the characters wil match the name on the award box lid, the written style of the characters may be a little different but the characters will be the same.
