Old Style Pre-1916 Ribbon Bar 01

Here we see an Oberstleutnant early in the war wearing his pre-war ribbon bar. Once the smaller 15mm wide and 18mm size was authorized in 1915 and 1916, this ONLY style up to then was re-designated the "Old Style."

It might just as well have been called the Shoot Me First Style for its obvious attractiveness to enemy marksmen in selecting targets.

On this ribbon bar is the classic quartet for pre-war Prussian Lieutenant Colonels--

    Red Eagle Order 4th Class
    Crown Order 3rd Class
    XXV Years Service CRoss
    1897 Wilhelm I Centenary Medal
