Sax 1870 M1916 ribbar Cu2
Don't be confused by the more familiar "Hindenburg Cross" ribbon. That identical ribbon was used--as here--for the 1870-71 Franco-Prussian War Medal. These two bars for actions in that war are worn on a M1915 ribbon bar that belonged to a retired Saxon officer recalled for World War Service. Obviously, finding bars like these on the "usual" final style of German ribbon bars is unusual because the wearer had to be past pension age!
