My mate has had the cross for about 20 years and he paid ?400 for it because he thought it was an RK.He wasn't best pleased when I told him it was an Ubergrosse.
Whether it was converted wartime or not.....who knows??
Here are some more pics.

I don't know where you can get it in the US Jim mate but it shouldn't be too difficult.
I don't think the other book to go with this one is out yet,I think it covers Luftwaffe awards etc.

Dave,
There is a match in Tucker / Previtera's "German Combat Badges of the Third Reich" Page 410-411. In that example it is a Maker Marked piece attributed to Hermann Aurich (HA) :food-smiley-004:
P.S. It is also a Zincer ...
That's exactly what I thought,I have been looking at the book and thought they looked alike!
Cheers

As this thread is about KM badges,I wouldn't mind some opinions on this coastal artillery badge. Its a zinker with a crimped in hinge.

....and this is my very first TR EK2 that I have had since 1984 or '85 can't remember exactly.I bought Gordon's book The Iron Cross a History 1813 -1957 and I just had to get an EK2,and now I have a few!
I think this cross is a frosty one under all of that patina.

I know mate,I wish you would have sold me one........I should have nicked it,I'm a lot bigger than you!!
Here are my 3 favourite Imperial EK2's...Wilm top left, LV top right(looks different to yours though Tony??) and CD 800 at the bottom.

Sorry you are right "113" Herman Aurich. I thought I had saved the photo as L13.
I was getting confused with another minty Deumer EK2 I have got (which is fact marked L/11).
Nick cheeky
I thought it was!!! Aurich EK2's are really distinctive, they are slightly misshapen with quite rounded corners on the outer flange. I have been looking at the photo and was thinking that I am positive its a 113
BTW,if that is the cased cross do you think you could show a photo/scan of the cross recess in the case?
Cheers

Knowledge is power!
I would have to agree with Jim and Gordon, its all in the research and study......I wish the stuff wasn't so expensive though!

Dave, that W&L EK1 is a stunner ! and Jim, that cased EK2 is one of the nicest I have seen, with what has to be one of the rarest known markings ( as far as position is concerned). A real treasure !
Cheers Gordon mate!
Jim I have to agree with Gordon, that cased EK2 is a blinder!
I hope you are going to show off your new RK des KVK Gordon??
Cheers
