I picked this up on ebay recently, a picture of Charles Bendel ? the photo is marked Dinham and son under royal patronage Torquay. this is written on the back of the pic. these medals came with the photo the first and the last are named to Charles A Bendel the one in the center is named to Charles Bendal I presume these are a father and son group . but unusual to be mounted together ., I would love to know what regiment the son was in and which police force I thaught this would interest you Brian

Stuart said the Victorian helmet in #30 seems to be made of leather. Is this correct or is it another material with a hardening coating? Can you put a date on the one posted and why is the ventilator cap a different colour? Hi the Vic helmet is made from a stiffend blackned canvas these where made by A.W. Sudweeks manufacturer Ballarat. this company made most if not all of these ,the air vent is made of nickel silver , hope this helps cheers rod ps this is the helmet worn by the police during the Ned Kelly sagas -

Very impressive,Rod. I can see you will be able to add a lot to our World Policing section. We see very little for the various Australian Forces - perhaps a brief history and some of your pieces for each State ? Those two lovely boards of badges and plates would also look good in close-ups............ p.s. Top picture - the dummy with what looks like an army officer's uniform - is that Australian Police ? -
