I picked this up on ebay recently, a picture of Charles Bendel ? the photo is marked Dinham and son under royal patronage Torquay. this is written on the back of the pic. these medals came with the photo the first and the last are named to Charles A Bendel the one in the center is named to Charles Bendal I presume these are a father and son group . but unusual to be mounted together ., I would love to know what regiment the son was in and which police force I thaught this would interest you Brian
    2. a New South Wales helmet with QC helmet plate ( the plate only differs from the cap badge because it has three lugs the cap has two) circa 1950s
    3. Western Australian police pith helmet circa 1950s as far as i can gather no badge was worn with this helmet , if anyone out there can correct me I would be obliged

    6. Stuart said the Victorian helmet in #30 seems to be made of leather. Is this correct or is it another material with a hardening coating? Can you put a date on the one posted and why is the ventilator cap a different colour? Hi the Vic helmet is made from a stiffend blackned canvas these where made by A.W. Sudweeks manufacturer Ballarat. this company made most if not all of these ,the air vent is made of nickel silver , hope this helps cheers rod ps this is the helmet worn by the police during the Ned Kelly sagas
    7. a South Australian pith helmet with KC badge worn in the fortys and fifties
    8. this Victorian Police helmet with KC helmet plate was worn by both foot and mounted police in the 30s to the 50s.
    9. this is an 1890s South Australian helmet with QC plate, the patern of this helmet is nearly the same as the early New Zealand helmets this is a Victorian helmet displaying the officers number, this patern was worn both by foot and mounted police from 1877 untill 1947

    15. this a South Australian transit officers cap QC cap badge circa 1960s this is a Transit police cap QC cap badge in the 70s bothe of these have been amalgamated with the SApolice for many years now

    17. thanks guys for your interest, and your help for posting, it looks like I can only post 2 pics at a time seeing that i am new . well I shall persevere . this is a South Australian police KC cap badge circa 1940s -50s another version of the South Australian KC helmet plate circa 1900=40s
    18. this is a South Australian police QVC helmet plate only ever worn on a navy blue helmet until 1901 this is a KC helmet plate worn by the mounted cadre helmets, but also worn until the forties only on caps. I am having so much trouble down loading , it is accepting some but not other its driving me mad its taken nearly an hour just for these two badges can some one help
    19. Very impressive,Rod. I can see you will be able to add a lot to our World Policing section. We see very little for the various Australian Forces - perhaps a brief history and some of your pieces for each State ? Those two lovely boards of badges and plates would also look good in close-ups............ p.s. Top picture - the dummy with what looks like an army officer's uniform - is that Australian Police ?
