i think it comes from China before communist period (there's a white star in the center), isn't it? i'm sorry, i'm not an expert on Chinese medal..:speechless:

it's one of Taiwanese navy badge, submarine unit, i think it post 1970's..
the sun in the center is the symbol of nationalist China and this symbol also used in Nationalist China flag (Taiwan)..

there are many of it on ebay, try this step to see the fakes:
search "medal" , then short it from lowest price, and tadaaa....

What's the differences between Daidancho and Daitacho?
In the history class my teacher said that Daidancho is the term for Batalion commander and you said it's Daitacho, which one is the right pronounciation?..:unsure:
