    1. Here is a grouping of French Gendarmerie type pocket badges. These fall into 2 U.N. groups, Lebanon "UNIFIL" and Yugoslavia "FORPRONU. All being French maker marked on the reverse. I would assume these are all private purchase. Can anyone say what the difference is between the silver and gold badges as far as use and or designation. Many Thanks John.
    2. Yes the small gold emblems on the badges mentioned is the U.N. symbol. I veared off of the this thread topic by showing general U.N. pieces, I will try and keep my posts focused on Police items. Best John
    3. Interesting badge, it has a U.N. look to it. Prior to UNIFIL the Senegalese had supplied troops to United Nations Emergency Force 2, "Egyptian and Israeli ceasefire" which would have been 1973-1979, it could possibly be from this period.
    4. Thanks Hugh, great story. The Thai military did not stick around in Vietnam very long. Suprising being that they were so close and in theory had much too lose if the SVN fell.
    5. Here are some items from the RTAVF during the Vietnam war. This unit was stationed at Bearcat in SVN. Thai forces spent approx 2 years in Vietnam. The Black Panthers were origninally part of the Royal Thai Expeditionary Division in early 1969. The division had their name changed to RTAVF which took place in approx 1970.
    6. Thank you Paul, I was never sure what era these were from. I do not see or handle many medals so it is always a quessing game for me. Best John

    9. I posted a photo of these in my first post on the Precious Tripod. Here are better photos I hope of front and back. Again any help on what time period for these is appreciated.
    10. Thank You Leigh and Gordon, here is a small portion of my U.N badges. These as I have learned would have been worn from pocket hangers "French Style" This group would be from the period of 1970- 1980's or so in the mideast. Please excuse the glare. Best John
