    1. Recently I decided to open my collecting field into Napoleonic awards. Particularly I liked the Hessen Kassel medal showed, and after getting one I bought this Hanseatic League medal. Were there also private purchases back then? Patina is not that extensive having seen others really darker so to speak. Hope you like it.

    2. Good morning guys. I wanted to share an EK that got me as soon as I saw it. Knowing it was indeed pricy, I had a feeling I ought to take the chance to have it all the same. A lifetime keeper if you like. Overall conditions seems excelent and provided I cannot attend International Shows or visit my favorite dealers, I did not wanted to be outbid (so to say) on this particular variant. Delivery still pending, but would be nice to know how do you like it. I must say I never thought about becoming a sole EK collector, but this is my third one and a sweet taste it is... other imperial pick ups may start fading slowly :)

      Thanks. Cheers,

      Alex

    3. Emedals recently posted this spange. I know really very little about precedence, so please forgive a potentially silly question: considering the red eagle order and centennial medal, shouldnt this soldier have been awarded an EK with 25 oak leaves as well? Rick Research's charts would place this fellow among the I Armee Korps if I am not mistaken. I like how you can feel history in this one.

    4. My thoughts are these guys making EKs might have been (in some cases) before, during or after war years, jewellers, bijouteriefabrik, watchmakers, etc. as well.

It is fashionable among these kind of dealers to have their brands identified; meaning hallmarks, ring/collar stamps or initials are useful resources for this purpose.

Just to say "I made this", for advertising, or whether it was a quality control thing I wouldn't know... but searching the web for a reference to a KJAD stamp I found in a patriotic piece, I've come across these interesting links (and made me think about this thread of course)
