Too bad he framed it though (now this will drive you crazy) because on the BACK of those beautuful documents is where the unit stamped and signed for receipt and actual award presentation to the recipient from the Orders Chancery back home.
Sure? Are they all stamped and signed like this? I only have one, and this isn't ?!?

Just my 2 cents...
Methinks this too, so we have four cents by now ...
(and as I understand, Bernd D's the same opinion)
PS:
Doesn't anyone want to see me bar in full?

My crown and swords device.
Ciao,
Claudio
Hi Claudio,
so what do you think these are for?
Sascha

Sorry to say, but why would a KO4 device have a crown? I would think this is a RAO 4 Crown and Swords.
Well, it is a CROWN-order, so why shouldn't it have a crown?
A red eagle order with crown and swords, and notghing else, for SWA? Possible? Common?
I've also seen a biiiig ribbon bar with two Prussian "war ribbons" with crown and swords, a larger and a smaller crown, one, the larger, for Hohenzollern House order, the second one, with the minor crown, for the crown order 4th class ...
And BTW, shouldn't be a REO's crown look much different? Silver, and red enemeled?
PS: My device cannot be for a REO 4th class with crown and swords, as the bar is pre1897 and this order probably for 1866
- or 1870/71? as I know, in this war such awards weren't given, and the REO's crown did not yet exist!

Or, do you mean closer??
Hmmm ...
Unfortunally, mine is only for 1866 war against Austria, not Southwestafrikan ...

So who bought it?
Hey Rick, you could guess it was me, when you look at the buyer's ebay name ...

But the location of the Hanseatic Cross and the Zahringer Lion it bothering me to no end. It would seem that the natural place to put it would be either after the Red Eagle while at the same time moving the Zahringer Lion up, or behind the Lion.
The Hanseatencross has to be much in front of the REO and the BZL, as these two are peacetime, and the Hanseatencross is a wartime award - even if the wearer of the bar was a Prussian or Badener (and I think he was, with this two Baden awards).

Great decorations, great bar's at all - congratulations to all of you ...
In an effort to round this discussion out a bit, I would mention that there was also an Orden f?r Verdienste von Frauen und Jungfrauen in der Kriegf?rsorge which was, in appearance virtually identical to the officer?s version, shown above; but, as near as I can figure it, about one half the size. These were worn on the noncombatant ribbon, configured as a bow; and, of course, are quite rare.
Has anyone the awarding numbers of the lady's version?
I have also one of these nice crosses, and also two award documents for sisters. Only one pictured, as the other one does actually look the same (but naturally, with another name), even with the same awarding number in the left corner !!!

okay...
possibility #2....
OEK #219 Goldene Regierungsjubilaumsmedaille G 1700 euro
OEK #220 wie vor, bronzene Medaille Br 45 euro
methinks someone somewhere down the line might have seen
the Goldene version on this strikingly nice bar and replaced the bad boy
with something close....
your thoughts appreciated.
joe
I'm late, but I am
It's been probably the Bronze one, as the Golden one has only been awarded to about 44 princes, kings, dukes and so one, who have been at the Granddukes Jubilee Party
I've only seen one real golden medal by now, some weeks ago on a bar at Thies' auction.
But many officers let their Bronze medal gilt, as it looks much beter, as we can imagine

The third enameled Baden LS Bar I've ever seen: one has been one Ebay.de last year, another one has been lying around at Stuttgart's IWB 2005.
Claudio said:It was on Thies Auction... tried to bid on it, unfortunately I wasn't successful.
I'm really glad my father has bought the Thies Bar, but the bar on Ebay will also be really great, when all medal are replaced ...

In the end, we will never know the truth regarding this bar.
No no no, you are NOT right, IMO.
I don't thin there has been a device on the last ribbon, it seems to be just a little damage. This ribbon bar matches exactly to one of my medal bars, and at least this contains:
- Hohenzollern, Silberne Verdienstmedaille;
- Preu?en, Kreuz f?r Kriegshilfe;
- Baden, Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung;
- Preu?en, Centenarmedaille.
Even if the last ribbon is not exactly the same - as we all know, there might be little discrepancies with mini ribbons
(I also got a Baden WWI bar with a bavarian medal, and on the matching ribbon bar the ribbon of ottoman liakat is used)
BTW:
I think my medal bar is a Baden soldiers one, probably a 114er who served as Schlosswache on Burg Hohenzollern, as some of this regiment did. Belonging to the bar, there was a IX year long service bar of Baden, pre 1913 model.
PPS: If the ribbon bar could be sold ....

Finally 1830 Euros for the Major Uhlenhaut medal bar - much too high.
Well, that's YOUR opinion, I think the price is normal, neither cheap nor to high - just MY opinion.
The one who bought it might get happy with it ...
Auction has ended and is sold to a forum's member, so might I ask if Major Uhlenhaut is the correct identification?
PS:
Pardon, have not been online here for a quite a long time ...
PPS:
The Bavarian MVO, as I know, has been awarded about 1,111times and is actually hard to get (with swords: about 26,000 - that's what S. Zimmermann told me).
I'm still looking like an idiot for a fair example, not such a piece with removed swords (as the last ones offered on Ebay)

A really nice bar, like it really ...
I should have kept it
No no no, it's in good hands now, isn't it?

Great photo! Have you ID'd him?
Of course not, am I a Rick?
He seems to be a Stabsarzt, not really old, but with nice decorations.
Picture maybe from about 1919/1920 ?!?
Would be nice if someone could get the name - I'm still not sure what the 5th medal on his bar might be?
German Chinadenkm?nze, Ottoman Imtiaz?

Saschaw
Would it be a photo of the then Major Otto Liman of the 2nd Hannoveriches Ulanen Regiment No. 14?
Huh, well done ...
Cannot recognize if he's a Major, but it's Otto Liman -
the later Prussian General der Kavallerie and Ottoman Marshall O. Liman v. Sanders-Pascha

Well, it's a stupid question, as the Name is written on the Photo -
I'll tell you later, maybe someone knows/recognizes him by coincidence ?!?

Hehe, if you like tammy, you might also like this guy, don't you?
Sorry, Ricks

My grandfather was born in a small village near Freiburg im Breisgau. I used to live in Heidelberg, and when I was in law school, I spent some time as a student at Ruprecht-Karls-Universit?t.
Ah ja, good to know.
I Changed my avatar - have read some old postings and thought firstly - hugh, it can't be me who has postet this months ago
I do not have a real Karl Friedrich by now, but only one ribbon bar - hope to change this very soon ...
(some WAF members (sorry can't remember who it was) were down to five or six possible men, among these G?ring and L?rzer)

Hi Saschaw, yes, but David has a certain affinity for awards from Baden!
Oh oh oh, I do also - you can believe me

Thanks for the nice welcome, I think I'll like the MGIC ...
I think the prices for the silver-gilt one are extreme. I've seen 1500- Euro and there's one in the US just under 5K USD! How nuts is that? Give me gold one any day........
The one for ca. 5K USD is a real (IMHO much to expensive), but the ones for 1,500.- € might not be?
Would really be glad if someone offered me a original one for 1,500.- € ...
Just noticed I'm using the same avatar as dave Danner does - I'll remove it ...
(though I'm the Badenser, not he)

Thanks for your welcome ...
By now, I do not have that much real "beauties", but I'm still young
Am I allowed to post pictures? Are they very limited in size? I wasn't able to ...

A really great orden, with it's original case ...
I loved to own also one, but many of these are fakes, and others offered are (at least for me) to expensive

Ooohhh, very kind you ask for this one ...
Even without any decoration on it, in my honest opinion one of my nicest bars:
