Yes, bu therein lie some of the problems...... extremely unusual (Note the word unusual, not impossible) for Pre-1915 style trapezoid bars to have a neatly sewn backing...... the brass wire "hooks" are not what I would normally expect to see either.

Correct. eSpew Bar. I don't think it matters if they glow or not on this one. Like I said, the position of the ls medal really bothered me. REAL Prussians had it in 1.place all the time, everytime... barring actual combat awards.

Reverse......... Very strange construction

This one bothers me....... mostly because of the placement of the LS Medal.

Nope, I read every single one you post as it really breathes some "life" into these little things we covet.......... I'm still a "why" guy...... I always wonder "why" he received the award.........

Now that's a pretty fair piece of detective work!

I'm always tickled when I see the "Sturmtruppen" poses... lots of gear, trench clubs, lots of hand grenades piled up, tucked in belts etc... I think these guys considered themselves to be elite and nasty and darn good at what they did...

Hi Chris, nice little bar. When I see one like this, mounted for civilian wear, I always think "really nasty wound"...

Ed, that one's a beauty...... Bob, pretty much every higher Mongolian Badge/Order has those symbols in there somewhere. I believe they are all part of a national shield/crest. I'm sure I/we will be quickly corrected.................. please pardon our inexperience!

Well, it might just be a one-piece......... but it sure as heck is still real gold one-piece schiffer

OK, let's be "scientific"...... the RAO as a single piece loose will fetch 200-300 Euro every time. Mounted. Think 300- Euro. The bar, well, as a group, I'd be looking to sell it for $350. That would be a great price to buy it at IMO, so yes, if you can get that bar for $350 or less, buy it and run. If you really like it, which you should as it's a great combination and darn spiffy condition...... I would pay $400 USD for myself at the drop of a hat!

I think DonHoHo had 3 General Bader T-Shirts..... they had a Zep Badge, Observer & Pilot... the story was General Bader wore them under his dress tunic when visiting variuous aviation units prior to 1918... of course they are only for sale with matching General Bader "Tighty-Whitey's"......... but hey, isn't that what Christmas is for??

Ralph! You're scaring me with that camera!!

Oh yeah, if you can buy that 5X bar for $250 run away with it before the seller comes to his senses........

Somebody's been ripping-off my patented Astro-Turf? background!

Looks like a wonderful, original bar with a tough to find RAD in Bronze to me!

Sorry, older fuzzy photo. Bought that one in 2002. I will refrain from adding the 1813 EK2, let's keep this to campaign medals!

The only original ribbon I ever had.......

The Case they came in from Germany. Typical pre-1900 style construction. Made by recipient? Made by collector? We'll never know.

Reverse of the pair. No ribbons, Combattant bore the usual rim inscription "From captured guns"

Nice matched pair of 1814... Combattant, Non-Combattant from Prussia. Obverse:

A Medal Bar to discuss........

I wish to clarify one thing here...... Bars like this certainly exist. Trap bars with backings. Trap bars with wire hooks. Trap bars with both.
The thing is when there is such a glaring error in precedence, one must then begin to question every little thing about the bar.
