Oh yeah........ looks like real gold centers on both of those, so that makes the Bar one an earlier award....

Looks like a gilt PCO4, note the width at the bottom of the ring where the disc attaches? I'm thinking repair as to my eyes, both the 50disc and the cross are quite real. Very tough to find and I cannot recall ever seeing this piece faked... I think you're safe!

Super bar...... always a possibility he was wounded out and then worked at home to support the war effort because he just couldn't quit......

Impressive selection of references..... as with all these things, collector interest and they will print it!

I agree with Bob, the bars from this period are quite colorful to the Legion Condor guys.

Hi Gerd, nice little group. Any paper with it? The enameled badges are beautiful.

The Hessian General Decoration (see post #84 above) came as both a "General Decoration" which would match up nicely with the Kriegsehrenzeichen from Hesse. It also came on the same ribbon as "General Bravery Decoration, or "Tapferkeits=Medaille" which could still pair up with either the KEZ, or the TWM!
My inclination on this one is that it is the Hesse piece..... the TWM ribbon is a visibly deeper shade of red in most cases. I'm also quite sure that there's no shortage of "close enough for gubmint" things that occur, so I think without documents, one will never be able to be 100% on this issue.

Nice to see one where the actual regs were followed... "as close to the cross as possible". Nice cross, nice spange!

Hi Heiko! The "slippery slope" is the act of actually collecting Imperial Awards! Starting to collect Imperial is like taking a big step onto the icy side of a mountain..... once on the ice, it's a long slide down forever!
You buy that first Imperial piece........ next thing you know, you need another, and another, and another...... kind of like Heroin and Tattoos, without as much social stigmatism ;>)

Haynau.... interesting wound medal ribbon with no stripes....... I have not seen this example before???

So what exactly is this piece? I am puzzled?

OK, I'm confused....... everybody keeps refering to this as Konteradmiral..... but Rick says he did not attain this rank??

Hi Daniel, pretty amazing mark on the side of that ?se!

Yep, we've had that argument a number of times........ I agree, on this one. Components might have been made in one run but not assembled until needed.

I am quite sure the seller does not have the second part. Nor is he aware that's what it is. I have done business with him before and he is very conscientious and proper at all times.

One sweet bar Claudio. One sweet bar!

I saw this today too... the really bizarre thing is that this loop appears to have been placed between the 2 pieces PRIOR to it being riveted together!? There's just a slight gap at the top seam where the 2 "wires" slip inside. Very strange, but very neat, clean and professional looking!

Also note that this is the silver medal.... not the more commonly seen bronze!

It's the top row of a double set. Note the KVK2 in second place? Not without an Honor Cross! The bar is deceiving due to the picture, but it's actually a half-height bar. Second Row is most likely:
one additional order/decoration
Honor Cross, Combattant
Saxon LS, (probaby 2 LSM)
Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria Comm. Medals.
I know the guy selling it and the rest of his (crappy) pix shows a bar consistent in construction & style to others from the maker I have handked.

Especially when only one row of a ribbon bar pair hits the market!

Very nice. You are sliding ever deeper into the pool........... welcome! ;>)

Here's the reverse. Some mothing, but nothing critical and a nice bar with the swords spange!

Well that's odd, I'm pretty sure Ken maintains a pretty constant supply of them. It's a pity so many of his German sources take such advantage of him as he has a very real passion for this hobby.
