Go figure...... one of the most spectacular of the Imperial Awards came in this little packet!

Knowing that this is one of our favorite subjects, I thought I would start athread and invite some posts of Orders, Decorations and Medals from Baden. Here's a few neat pieces with packets that floated through here over the years!

Hi Eric, nice example. here's a sample of one of the oddities......... Non-Combattant Medal in steel, issued on the combattant ribbon....... with a Beaumont bar applied as well!

I don't think I'd touch it, certainly not take apart even to clean. To me, these home-made monstrosity's are one man's expression of pride in a very DIY way...... I'll bet you he proudly wore this bar every chance he could!
As far as cleaning.......... not sure what to do other than check with the guys...... I confess to not ever cleaning a thing!

PS: Same guy..... the hat messes with the lines, but the eyes, nose and face are same!

Hi Mike, looks like a Bulgarian Patriotic piece from WW1. Try posting it under "Central Powers" awards....

How much of a difference between the 2 eras in mm? In both dimensions? I wonder how we ended up with the combo. Did he buy it that way?? Or a collector "fixed it" long ago!?

Hi Chris, is the cross hallmarked for Meybauer?

Hi Mike, that would be great! mm. & grams as I believe even the WW2 pieces are referenced in Nimmergut's by these criteria. Thanks!!

Hi Rick, be careful what you ask for.... he'll probably end up indexing this six-ways from Sunday!

Hi Paul, I was just lucky on this one. It came out of the UK but was sold through eBay in Germany. Now I have a Non-Combattant Bar from 1914 & 1870. All I need now is one from 1813 and I would be quite pleased!

I have unpinned this topic since we are now talking about many other aviation-related items and issues. As a reminder to any new members, please see the first post in this thread. Thanks!! Rick

Excellent point Rusty, I was surfing through WW2 last night and noticed one seller had about a dozen different "KGB" award documents, passes, etc. I will confess to being constantly amazed at the quantity and quality of fakes out there........ whether Russian, german or another country. it seems no matter what, there's always someone willing to fake it!

And the reverse of the bar:

With the opening of this new Forum dedicated to the Imperial iron Cross, I add my contribution previously discussed elsewhere. Seemed like the right place for it!

Hi Mike, any chance you can shoot over to a jeweler and get precise height, width and weight. please?
Thanks!

Hi Chris. Very interesting. I have not ever seen a leather backing material before this bar. No shortage of weird cloth ones, but leather?? Not even once.

Good question Rosenberg.......... one I do not have an answer for. Perhaps some of our more learned members can comment on this?? Thanks!!
