According his buttons, he's a telegrapher of an artillery unit. A late corduroy tunic (probably privately tailored). A very-very good photo!

Good find, Markgraf!
On 3 September, 1916, the New York Times ran a story about him, entitled "Baron George Washington Fighting for Austria; Collateral Descendant of the First President of U.S., an Officer of the Austrian Lancers", which explains his descent. It is available, as a .pdf, here,

Interesting article, thanks! I will search him in the 1916 Schematismus.

Most interesting, thanks for sharing!
Was there any information about Serbian regimental flag seen on the first photo? "Out of 51 made, 47 of them are preserved and one of them is in Paris" source: Serbian Military Museum website: http://www.muzej.mod.gov.rs/en/museum-activity/collections/collection-of-military-flags#.VGOOMPnF9VM
As I remember nothing, except a basic inscriptions (otherwise the weakest part of the exhibition are the inscriptions).
You should write to the HGM fore more info.

I wonder if the "cross bow" was for launching ropes in the mountains...
In fact that is an experimental hand grenade-throwing device.

Nice pictures! The third gentleman is probably the member of the Habsburg family. The last picture is a Royal Hungarian Army Lt. Col between 1929-1940.
