Paul It's quite difficult to give you a time as I tend to work on things as the want takes. I can happily work all day on some things but get bored with others so it becomes a struggle to complete (I mostly bin the stuff long before they are finished if i don't like them. The japanese medal nearly went there). The Crimean medal took about 15 hours, the Anywhere Anytime racked up about 40 hours. Something like this one called "Safe" the weapon has the safety on if you look closely (assuming the quality comes out) took over 70 hours By the way - all of my pictures have a wolf's paw print in them rather than signed. Go look.

This one took a lot longer than it looks. The medal has been "brooched" at some point in the past and is really beat up. I like items that have been "used" so like this medal a lot. Applied thick outlines to bring out of the plain scratchy background.

Japanese Chinese Incident medal on Good luck "meatball" flag background. Was really difficult getting the colour of the medal with crayons (not really that happy with this one)

All Some inconsiderate sod tried to kill himself driving into the BT box at the end of our road last week. So, no phone, no internet. Hopefully will be fixed this week sometime but who knows with British Telecom. Doing this at work in the 30 seconds I have before the firewall kicks me off. Nice painting by the way, keep up the good work, maybe we can get a gallery togther for GMIC

Strapper Blimey, nice one. With you doing the barbed wire, me handing out the medals, Chris digging a WW1 trench in his garden and Mervyn writing the story we'll be made! Stand back JK Rowling, here we come Spaz

Strapper Blimey, nearly had a heart attack then . Try using pencils first. Move onto the colours once you've got the drawing thing licked. If you start now you could be out buying some paints before teatime - he he. Cheers Spaz

Thanks again all. Really gives a boost when you guys praise things. Ta very muchly. Greg - yep coloured pencil on this one. Close call on the make - they're Derwent as they mix pretty well on paper. This is on board though so they are a bit more difficult. Got delayed by a day or two doing this but am back on it again and will post as it develops. Still aware that I owe Mervyn something (sorry Merv, will get onto our Old Bill stuff) but another helmet has appeared that I have something in mind for. Thanks All :)

      Good Luck Flag

Gents Got this today. I believe they are known as "meatball" flags. Super condition and signed by the Soldier's neighbourhood (I think they are all names but I can't say my Japanese is anywhere but non-existent). Translation would be appreciated if possible. Assuming, of course, I've got it the right way round Thanks in advance Spaz
    19. I took along Simon's GSM to show them. They then opened a drawer to show me what they had 60 Peninsular GSMs and 20 Waterloo Medals in one drawer alone! Just staggering.
    20. A few (thousands) interesting things to see Watch and be sober ??????
    21. Had another day out today, went down to Dorchester to the Keep. The military museum for the Dorsetshire Regiment - originally the 54th, 11th and our Hero's 39th Regiments of Foot. If you are anywhere near go have a look round, loads of stuff to see and very helpful people there to ask the odd one or a hundred questions of. Me displaying us (nobody noticed, I think I need a bigger one )
    22. And Simon's own 39th Regiment of Foot
    23. Here's the 54th Regiment of Foot Colours (they fought at Waterloo)
    24. The colours were there, but a bit worse for wear than I thought they'd be. Both the 54th Foot and our Awardee's 39th Foot are displayed. Both of these Regiments became 2nd Btn and 1st Btn Dorsetshire Regiment.
    25. Spent today visiting Sherborne Abbey to find our awardee's colours. What a great little town - full of little shops selling those gold sticks wives like to keep in little glass jars and estate agents. worth a look around if you're ever in that neck of the woods. Here's a shot of the inside of the Abbey
