Never seen one of these in this zinky colour. They're usually a nice copper colour. I don't know if Bavaria was like Prussia and stopped awarding these after 1914, or if awards continued throughout the war.

A quick question gentlemen. For the Princely Hohenzollern House Order, would all classes have a gold device on the ribbon bar? The reason I'm asking is that I've seen ribbon bars representing the order (not the medal) with both gold and silver devices. Thanks.

Cannot comment on the clasp as I have no experience in that field, but overall the bar looks good (although being a hook back means that the Portugese award could have been something else on a green ribbon). The only thing I find strange about this bar is that even with overseas service which counted double time there is no long service award. Perhaps retired before 1913 and never bothered to swap his LDA brooch in for the new medal, as many others did.

Whats the size of the hollow inside the box where the order is supposed to go? That would help an identification.

Judging by the colour, this could be the rarer version issued for the Franco-Prussian war to guards of the Prussian GHQ

I see, I was not aware of the rolls. In fact I did wonder about the missing Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen on the miniature chain, Looks as though it was replaced by the Kyffhauser veterans medal.

To be fair, some green with all that red would make it perfect for Christmas

Beautiful ribbon bar. If I am not mistaken, the award on the non combatant ribbon was the war merit cross according to the miniature chain.

I do not see much wear on the Red Cross ribbon... it does look a little discolored, but due to time?

It looks , but the flat bottom construction (like am-militaria uses), different ribbon sizes used and wear on the red cross medal when compared to others raise some interesting points. Not saying it is anything other than genuine, but would like to see some further discussion about it.

I read earlier on in this thread that the Schwarzburg Anna-Luisen rolls exist, but I don't know if anyone has them. Does anyone have them or the rolls for the Oldenburg 1907 Red Cross Medal?

He has just put some up. Although to be honest some (like the one with the Saxon Albert Order and the Koch Group) are not his style and look much better than usual.

Third Medal: Schwarzburg Anna-Luisen Verdienstzeichen (215 awards)

Second award is the Rote Kreuz Medaille of Oldenburg. Instituted in 1907, it was given out to those serving in some sort of medical capacity. The statutes say that it was made in bronze gilt, but this particular example is hallmarked 950 for silver, which i have seen on a couple of other examples (if anyone could clarify whether silver gilt ones were also officially produced i would be grateful). I am not sure of the award numbers, I've seen numbers ranging from 18 (which I think is too low) to around 300. Again, could anyone confirm/deny this?

Third award is the Anna-Luisen Verdienstzeichen, given out by Schwarzburg during WW1 to women who made contributions to the war effort. Instituted in 1918, only 215 were awarded.

So, from what I can see the whole story of the bar is that of a high ranking nurse/women in a medical capacity (out of curiosity, did nurses receive the Hindenburg cross?). Although it seems to have belonged to a woman, due to the low award numbers of the two decorations would it be possible to trace?
