It seems familiar however I am probably thinking of the DSB emblem as shown in the following link.

Ulsterman, thank you for your reply. Was your neighbors example on a stickpin?

Peter, you are certainly correct that a ribbon could have been there at one time. I looked through my items and noted a Sangerbund stickpin with a ribbon attached to the pin, nothing to stop it from tilting from side to side though.
I do not recall ever having seen a set up quite like this.

Greetings Peter,
Thank you for the reply. My stick pin reverse is the same as your #V.
I can see no way to sturdily affix a ribbon and have it remain in place. No sign of glue or wear to the reverse.
It was an interesting piece, so I thought why not! Something to research.

Gents, would the swords on this stick pin be recognizable to a specific award?
Or a generic German WWI silver variety?

Thanks for looking and for any and all assistance. --dj--Joe

Sir, I believe the Gent. at the following site still has his available.

Onward with a different maker mark.

Don, if and when you should desire to use this for your excellent
section on differing maker marks I will give a go at providing a sharper image.
I did see a gilt version at a show, however being out of funds I did not inquire.
The dealer knew it was not often seen. What would be the value of a gilt example
should it hapen to be there next year?
Thanks for looking and commenting on the odds and ends I have posted.
My sincere thanks to all who contribute.

Rick, FireMedals, thank you both.
Now that you have shown me the second type badge my aged memory tells me I have seen these somewhere before, long ago.

FireMedals, Gerd, I wish to thank you both, I appreciate the information very much.

Thank you. I had just begun to search for the Fire award, so far with no luck.
Was the full size award a pin back badge or was it in medalion form?
So much to learn. I see there is at least one book on German Fire awards.
Regards, Joseph

In my quick glance at the book if I viewed correctly
this is a 2nd. of three styles.

My example marked BSW in a clover leaf.
[attachmentid=54039]
Could the maker mark in question above, posts 23 & 24, be BSW with the tail of the emblem hidden under the pin plate?

Have had this example since the early 60's. for what little that is worth.
The reverse font is more elongated than the two above.
It shows more wear than the scanner is displaying.

Comments welcome.

A stickpin.

For myself this is an unknown configuration without a ribbon.
There is no room to my way of thinking for two ribbons to be attached to this stickpin.
Even if there was they would rotate.

Has anyone ever noted an award stickpin like this before.
I have seen the button hole stud type with ribbons.
Checked through all available period catalogs, No Go.
