    1. Also, as a royalty he was kinda personalising the dutch state, many states wanted to thank each other for their efforts,

It is not possible to thank each member of a foreign army, thus decorating the prince for "general merit" is meant to decorate the dutch state.

Kinda weird story from me, but I hope the meaning is coming straight ;)

He was decorated for the merit of all dutchies

      kind regards,

      Jacky

    2. Hi Gents,

A bit late, but uhm.... Well

      HANGING FROM NECK :

      - Order of St. Stanislaus - commander (Russia)

      - Order of the White Falcon - Commander (Saxon)

      TOP ROW :

      - Orde of the Dutch Lion - Knight

      - Orde of the oaken crown - knight

      - Order of Merit d'Adolphe d'Nassau - meritcross gold/silver

      - Order of the Danneborg - Knight

      BOTTOM ROW :

      - Metal Cross 1830-1831

      - Order of Leopold I ( Belgium ) - Knight

      - Order of Christ ( Portugal )- Knight

I have to say that many things are hardly visible,

however many ribbons are hard to see, the metal cross should have stripes on its ribbon, nowhere to see. Also does it come after all the other medals, thus it might be a foreign medal too based on it's precedence after the danish order.

The order of leopold isn't leopold II but leopold I because of the enamel!!! Leopold II is just a lovely metal cross, whereas the leopold I has enemal all over the cross.

      Nice Card!!!!

      Kind regards,

      Jacky

    3. A grand cross set of a former colony of that country???

From what colony was the order of the netherlands lion??

Oh you meant that he wore the "lesser" order instead of the higher order, while his father wore the GC of the former colony...

Well I guess he thought that as it was a family happening, not really the state-occassion, thus he would wear the family order instead of the state order. Not a bad guess!!!

      Kind regards,

      Jacky

    4. Dear Igor,

I have seen a site which handles about the reals and fakes of this bar,

I will have to look it up.

However, one of the points is the thickness of the bar, could you give a side picture of the bar, from where we can determine the thickness of the plate.

      Kind regards,

      Jacky

    5. And Yes..

      The master has spoken again....

But I don't like the phrase about the beauty of the Netherlands Lion......

      I consider them both lovely.

      Eric,

are there any pictures of the decoration of the belgian princesses??

      Or any other decorandee??

      Kind regards and

      "Prettige jaar wisseling gewenst"

    6. No, he means the crown order, which has almost the same medals and likeness as the houseorder of Orange,

but it's ribbon is orange with the colours of the dutch flag on the sides of the ribbon.

This site of Eric will give you information of the decorations,

for more information, you will have to wait untill tonight or later this week as we, dutchies, have a public holiday, the second christmas.

He knows more about this order and it's receipments.

As far as I know, this order is still in use and still awarded, but not so publicy as ever before, just sparely as it's a order of merit, so her majesty is guarding the esteem of this order very strictly.

Also is it merely a private order than a state honour, thus not really publicy announced.

      Kind regards,

      Jacky

    7. Hi Paul,

      No one seems to know this order, but a little search on the internet gave his brother as a result;

      vat10.jpg

to be found at this site

the ribbon appear something like the order of the dutch lion (netherlands) or the order of adolph of nassau (luxembourg)

I couldn't find any more information on this order, no name, no further information.

But I know that this order isn't one of the official orders, i.e. St Sylvester, St. George, etc

      Would like to know more.

      Kind regards,

      Jacky
