    1. Dear Greg,

in case you read german you will find this interesting:

      Red Eagle Order Medal

      and:

      Crown Order Medal

      Enjoy

      Very nice articles,

However when looking at the article about the red eagle medal, I saw a spange with all orders ripped away except the red eagle medal....

      IPB Image

      Now I have 2 questions...

      - was it possible to earn the medal and thereafter the knights grade etc ? Could one then wear both the medal and the uppergrades??? I thought, as long as it's not awarded with swords, one has to send the lower grades back? So if one becomes a knight 1st class, the knight 2nd class had to be returned??

      - what medals/orders are missing on the spange???

      Thanks in advance,

      Kind regards,

      Jacky

    2. Well, I don't think that this is necessarily their fault,

if I'm correct, this is an aution?? Then it's just what one wants to give for the pieces....

But yes, It's really a sin that they're splitting groups etc.

But it's just mainly greed, often it's easier to have two collectors bidding against each other for an

item which belongs to their niche than getting 2 collectors trying to outbid each other on the whole lot as

the price of the lot is higher to overcome for a collector.

      It's just a shame :shame:

    3. Hi Haynau, Wonderfull bar,

Would love to know more about this history..

How ever, about the russian medal and it's ribbon, did you know that different ribbons had a different meaning for the medal for zeal?? Some were on the St Anne ribbon etc etc to denote bravery etc

As I don't collect russian, it's just my 2 cents worth and needs review from a more experted member.

      Kind regards,

      Jacky

    4. Hi Robert, Nice picture, with a black wound badge too.

I have seen those badges before!!!

The deer with the cross between it's antlers comes from the legend of Saint Hubertus, who is now a patron Saint of the hunt.

so a kind of membership badge of a Hunting-club?

But I know also of a very special badge, designed by the emperor and awarded only to his hunting-compagnons, also royals. As I once readed that the king of the Netherlands had been awarded one, I have stored this fact somewhere in my mind. But as it was mainly to royals, I don't think it's this badge.....

      Gents,

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

      Kind regards,

      Jacky

    5. You're right eric...

I'm so sorry, feel sooooo bad about this mistake :shame:

Well let's look at the data for the ribbons

Cross of honour of the house order of ORANGE 1969 - x

Medal for order and Peace 1945 - 1951

Officers long service cross. since 1951 the roman numbers are used on the batons.

Medal for the inauguration of queen Beatrix 1980

I think that Eric is right, as often with the dutch medals.

The connection with luxembourg (order of Adolph) makes the court-connection likely, as with the cross of honour.

If I may quote you eric??

"Dutch citizens have to earn the lowest grade of the house order first, before earning the next highest."

So this man must have earned the three lowest grades if this had been awarded before the reorganisation of the house order in 1969.

But afterwards, this became the lowest grade..... Looking at the data, I think this had been awarded after the reorganisation.

The decorandee of the medal for the inauguration of Beatrix are known to the chancellery, the cross of honour must be know to the chancellery of the house order, please feel free to correct me Eric.

The order of Adolph of Nassau must also be known as the permission to wear it had to be obtained from the departement of defence??

      remains the problem of privancy.......

      Kind regards,

      Jacky
