Thank you for your replies. I understand that their is no way to find an individual recipient to this Order, OR if this order was actually awarded to a Turkish Officer. 

Does anyone know the number of awards to foreign officers? I have read only 91 were awarded during the colonial era and 53 during the 1st world war. (O'Connor, Vol II, pg 43.)

The table cites 1908-1918 I would assume all awards made to the military were made between 1914-18 as the Karl Friedrich ribbon was used for awards made during a conflict (1870, China, Africa WW1).

395 according to the source that o'conner used (Badens Orden, henning volle, 1976).

I do not believe it ranks above the Karl Friedrich medal. O'conner states that there were airman proposed for the small gold medal who were upgraded to the silver Karl Friedrich  medal but in most cases down graded to the silver merit medal.

The Military Merit Medals Gold and Silver could be awarded for both civil and military merit with the ribbon being the distinction. The civil award had a rich yellow gold ribbon. The Military award for bravery was on the ribbon of the military karl freidrich merit order a similiar ribbon with a wide red stripe in the center and thin white strip on either edge.

Hello, 

  Is it possible for a Turkish Officer to be awarded a Prussian order? I acquired a Prussian crown order 3rd class with swords (Gold) on a trip to Istanbul. Unfortunately the gentlemen selling the order was more knowledgeable on the price of gold which is why he was selling the order. I understand there were very few awards in world war 1 of this specific order to Germans.

Am not a ribbons expert but i believe the yellow with black strip is a peace time ribbon, and the yellow with light blue strip is for war.

This is my first post on the forum after reading many help threads. I just purchased the book Pour le Merite und Tapferkeitmedaille by Klietmann with states the following numbers.

Bremen; The last ceremony was held on 23 November 1923. A total of 20,018 decorations have been awarded.
Hamburg; Is estimated to approximately 50,000 Hanseatenkrueze have been awarded.
Lubeck; The ceremonies of the cross extending to the year 1919.
