According to Neal O'Connor their were at least 12 awards of the Crown Order 4th class without swords on the war ribbon. He specifically found the 12 leutnante mentioned in the militar-Wochenblatt.
Cited from Aviation Awards of Imperial Germany, Volume II, pg 43.

Hi Jabab1914,
If you don't mind me asking a question. why do the same St Henry medals have different size cases. Did they become smaller as during the war, or are hey from different time periods?
Thanks

Dear Komtur,
This is why i really enjoy this forum. Their are truly professional collects who take the time to answer questions the many questions on these topics. P.S. I had a hunch this was not a very likely combination.
Thank You,
Chuck

Please excuse me if this is sill but would not the cross be on a white and black war ribbon for noncombatants? Which was very infrequently awarded. Their is a very good article (in German) on the topic. Their are very few awards of the Crown Order 4th Class on the white and black ribbon with only 19 in the colonial period and 1 in WW1.

Very nice cross, Klingbeil Book Orden 1700-2000 vol 3 pg 221 shows a similar cross without the silver marking or sales marking.

Great set the first time I've seen a box for the cross.

Really great photo of the little prince on the horse. Do you know what awards he is wearing, and if they would be official awards for a very young prince?

Eric,
Nice cross unfortunately for me it seems dealers add several hundred dollars when they see a meybauer. I would like to find a nice Knauer award piece next.
Thanks,
Chuck

Hi Eric
I'm okay with the a little grime and will leave the cross with such character. I purchased this one as i have an Iron Cross 1st class with the same type of fastener. unfortunately, i have not been able to identify a potential manufacture only some grateful comments by fellow members as these most likely were first produced late war or after.

Chuck

A wonderful thread for a very interesting and certainly complex subject to understand why someone may received an award from various states...
Thank You,

Hi Deruelle,
As I have the variant cross does Nimmergut state who the manufactures was and if that is considered an award piece or a period second piece?
Thanks,
Chuck

On the original post the Klienerrock has two ribbons in the button hole.
the 1st ribbon is all Black.
Is that the Prussian Order of St John, or is their another award that uses the same single black color ribbon?

Mecklenburg Schwerin and Mecklenburg Sterlitz used the same color combination on their ribbon for their Military Merit crosses 2nd class.

Do you know when Brehmer, MarkneuKirchen was in business. I am interested in Bruinschweig War Merit cross 1st Class from WW 1 that I have told were produced by that firm for the Royal court jeweler Hermann Jerguns.

Kaiser Century Medal prince size opinions

Hi Vince,
I'm thankful and value all opinions of the members. As their were over million recipients of the medal i would imagine a large number of companies produced with variations in secondary awards. Could you please elaborate why you think the details are weak.
Thank You very much
