@Marcel B., "... For some reason when I search for my interests (Saxon Order of St. Henry) Soviet items appear..."
It's called the enshittification of the internet. They bury the most relevant search returns to keep you on longer viewing more advertisements- in this case with ebay the sponsored items.

Looks like they were on a stagnant front around Zapadnaya Litsa river in '43 if I'm reading it right.
Quote...By October 1941, the front line had stabilized at the turn of the Western Litsa River. On October 22, 1941, the Wehrmacht troops went on the defensive by order. The enemy in the division's sector advanced only 30-60 kilometers, which was the record minimum advance of Germany and the satellites for the entire time of the Second World War. Until October 1944, the front line remained unchanged. The division fought private battles. At the end of April - beginning of May 1942, together with the troops of the army, they launched an offensive that turned out to be unsuccessful.
Since October 7, 1944, she has been taking part in the Petsamo-Kirkenes operation, advancing on the main direction of attack, taking part in the liberation of the cities of Pechenga, Tarnet, Kirkenes. After the operation, she was taken to the reserve.
On December 30, 1944, it was transformed into the 101st Guards Rifle Division.
There isn't much out there in English on units so I do this:
- Google translate the unit name into Russian
- Copy/paste Russian name into Yandex
- Copy/paste yandex page into Goolge translate
Here's a few links on the unit:

This is not a Type 5. It is a Type 6 made in the Leningrad Mint.
Thanks for helping clarify Simius Rex. One question, who are you using for distiguishing different types?

I believe it's fairly uncommon to get a citation like that. This is a really good one jammed with information. Well done!

Just as he promoted the Virgin Lands Program as a solution to the grain problem, so Nikita Khrushchev touted the expansion of corn cultivation as a solution to the livestock problem. “There will be no communism if our country has as much metal and cement as you like but meat and grain are in short supply,” he remarked in early 1954. To increase the supply of meat, Khrushchev sought at every opportunity to popularize corn as a fodder crop.

There was a Russian movie about it a few year back, I wouldn't recommend watching it. Horribly done.

Welcome to the forum!
I don't believe there is a catch-all online source for serial numbers and dates awarded.
These web sites can help you:
https://sovietorders.com/our-services/database/
http://www.aukedevlieger.nl/index-phaleristics.htm
I highly recommend the book 'Echos of War' by Paul J. Schmitt

as for badges you can use these dealers :

That is an eye pleasing award, colors are similar to the Red Banner of Labor.

Anyone else have opinions or thoughts on this?

Interesting piece. The serial number would indicate a screw back award, but this looks to be a Type 3, option 7 if I'm not mistaken (there are several variations that look similar) http://mondvor.narod.ru/ORbnLab2.htm
My guess is a replacement/duplicate award? the serial number engraving looks good to my eyes, but why add the '0's before the number 987?
I can't comment on the award booklet, those are a minefield to me.
I look forward to hearing other opinions on this!

Original post/thread is old, but this medal is a fake if it's not already apparent.

I'm not an expert but I think it looks good. Anyone else have some thoughts?

Sam,
Looks like a late 1943 or early 1944 award. According to this book:
http://soviet-awards.com/forum/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=7202
The number can be researched. You can contact Auke, Igorka or Ctahhr. There may be others I'm unaware of, hopefully other members will add them.
Auke:

I'm struggling with this one. It has to much tarnish for me to see some details.
The hammer and sickle do look off, the sickle goes all fat looking where it meets the hammer.

Most likely a long service award, but could be a follow up. I would say...90% chance long service award.
