    1. Hi Jan,

Could you post close ups of the following 11 medals.

      Clip.jpg.138b0c22300a7fd648cc6bb77df96ee3.jpgClip_2.jpg.58c54e3ab860b2b7b886e475d4945366.jpgClip_3.jpg.2f74d67f53c7f36ca16c7d818dd2fe23.jpgClip_4.jpg.fddbeebb1f35a926047efe1fdc79a43e.jpgClip_5.jpg.377915833b3c9a163baccdc4a1b56080.jpgClip_6.jpg.49cbcbfd61cc41f451f53262b09b9a18.jpgClip_7.jpg.890fd979734e42b1fc9baa82bbefb7be.jpgClip_8.jpg.27673dfbf7571c55011d85b170095cd5.jpgClip_9.jpg.6bf96ab0cefef74c3955b21944bf3ee1.jpg

The first one is a new one for me, the others I only have a reverse picture or a picture which is different (the 6th. medal has a blue centre on the picture that I have and the 8th one is missing a star between the wreath).

      Clip_10.jpg.81eea78229c662e9849f23dfa3a70a3d.jpg Clip_2.jpg.e9cd7ddd8cf2421cd1c1fe17322a7182.jpg

Anyway, a clear reverse AND obverse picture of the 11 medals would be very appreciated.

      With thanks (Dank U).

      Marco.

    2. Hi, thanks for your reply.

I've seen your late brothers' threads before and I have used some of his pictures as illustration for my listings.

What I'm looking for now are the ones for which I haven't yet been able to get a picture, I have been looking everywhere.

Online dealers, ebay, bidorbuy, gmic etc, no success so far.

PS: I just noticed the obverse of your medal is different than the one shown by me.

    3. Hi All,

Can anyone help me with this medal.

I have seen 2 different types and I am wondering whether the second type is either a fake or an unfinished factory stock medal sold to collectors after KwaNdebele was re-incorperated within the South African Republic.

      Clip.jpg.e1da8382e75fb2c5e2d8799721e990c9.jpg

This is a full size medal.

      Clip_2.jpg.e64be905b0207dd02649487a7a63a846.jpgClip_3.jpg.cddf0d5f6ea0a7f53168362d476b088c.jpg

      Also full size medal.

As you can see there is nothing on the reverse.

This type of medal is often offered on Ebay and BidorBuy for sale (even by some dealers), yet the first type I have only seen once.

So, official 2nd. type, unfinished factory stock medal or fake - who can tell me what it is.

      With thanks.

    4. Hi, can anyone tell me which of these 2 medals was issued first and how long they where issued before they were replaced with the second version.

I have 2 types of this medal in my collection. (Both are full size).

    5. Hi, I have a copy of Paul P. Matthysen's book "A guide to South African Awards" (highly recommended to any SA military medal collectors) and it does list the John Chard Decoration & medal - BUT it does not mention the mystery (ERROR) medal.

I would like to know how it came to be, how many were issued and where/to whom and also how rare it is.

    6. Hi, Does anyone have more info on this mystery from South Africa.

It's a bronze version WITH decoration on front instead of medal.
