I'm not familiar with this medal. The eagle most certainly looks contemporary and if you can read the hallmarks, they might indicate when the piece was minted. I suspect it has to do with a veteran's organization. It's very nicely minted; too bad it doesn't have an original ribbon as that would be a clue too.
Hi
Thanks for your help...I must ask someone who can tell me something about those hallmarks!!!!!!
I also have this french? buttoniére too !!!!!!
Can anyone identify or knows something about it?????

Before of the creation of the ISN the medal that was awarded for this kind of acts was the Maria II medal for Philantrophy & Merit...
Here is na exemple of one of my colletion this of the gold degree...
A short curious story about this medal is the one about one of our queens Dª Maria Pia wife of king Louis I that received a same identical medal for a bravery act on saving the two royal princes from drowning on the Mexilhoeiro beach on October 1873...

and a picture taken at the time of a group of some of the soldiers involved on the attempt rebelion on board of one of the ships (the India) that toke them on their way to a forced exile...
later, when the republic was installed some of them (those who survived) would received this medal in memory of their act...

Hello Peron,
A very nice Alexander Leisek produced variety. The obverse/reverse strike is quite good and the makers marks are quite pronounced.
There should be the faint marking of 'Paul Dubois' on the obverse on the right of the feet of victory as viewed. It is a bit difficult to see in the pictures provided.
Regards,
Rob
You're rigth the signature is not very clear to see...

Hi Peron,
Your medal appears to have PAUL DUBOIS on the obverse so, if there is no LA or R anywhere, nor any markings on the edge, I'd say it is an Official Type 1 - especially as it comes from a supplier in Brussels.
Bill
My medal only has the Paul Dubois signature, I look everywere and cannot found any other markings...do anyone knows the supllier on the label box????

Hello Peron,Your diploma is interesting because the grant date is of 19 August 1919 and the Decree of 14 July 1919.Similarly, I do not know him what type of degree.I think Belgium as France has a variety of forms of degree. However, in France there is a regulatory model, the others are not regulatory.By cons, is there a regulatory model delivering for Belgium? What Says the decree?RegardJean-Michel
Here is a close up of the text in the brevet...& what about my medal in post#72? the absence of any marks? Is there any variant without any markings?anyone????
