Can you tell us of what material the eagle is made ?
Material looks a bit strange.
It's a very solid one, must be zink then..
If so, it might has a chance, I've seen some late war painted ones..

Eagle looks Ok, but it seems re-painted or something..., better to see something like this in daylight instead of in the light of a flash..

I also would like to see a close-up of the eagle area, inside jacket back of the eagle and a shot of the back of straps, if possible.. ?
It seems the area around the eagle is more clean than the rest of the jacket, or is this caused by the flash ?

Hello Ian,
The white top doesn't feel right to me because the cloth is rather thin with hardly any structure..
It's a bit T-shirt like material, while the white tops I've seen show a more stiff waffled or striped material.
Although it seems to fit I've a feeling the top doesn't belong to the cap.., might be added later.
The cap itself looks like a later war example with inferior leather sweatband, might be OK.
Here's a shot of how I like to see white tops..

The M43 is probably a postwar Bundeswehr cap plus the silver piping might be added one day.., nevertheless not a era cap IMO.
I remember I've seen many postwar gabardine NCO caps like this 30 years ago, could be bought by the dozen..
Looks like one of those with added insignia..
I don't like the white cap top either..., both would be not for my collection.

This has been down for awhile, but I thought I'd add a bit more. As far as I know, the only N&G's faked are the second type (rigid frame with elastic strap). Some are VERY good, and the only way to tell is a slight difference in the curvature of the lenses. I could really only see this when comparing a real pair to a fake pair side by side. Maybe if someone has one of each we can set up a comparison photo?
Ian
Besides the bad fakes I've seen about 2 or 3 types of fake 2nd models which are very good, so to speak, but they show errors..
The 3rd model is faked as well, especially the ones with the screws in the nose bridge..

Flares? I was worried there.... I thought they were butt plugs
Would be quite a sensation if one goes off ...

Wow, those are some very desirable items if you love flightstuff..!
Nice to see a flarebelt which gives a good fealing instead of one of those Ebay quick made wrong material all the same looking with wrong fake buckle ones.., very nice and rare .
The bottle is great too, never see one on the market, I only know 3 or 4 in collections, a very hard to get and great item, especially to those who like survival items..., wish I had that one.

Might be used by Flak or signal troops in this configuration, just a wild guess, have pics somewhere where they're wearing leather flightcaps connected to radio equipment..
I've seen people wearing flightcaps on trains and in ground units, so not particular flight as a rule.
These caps are good for communication, so, they were used as such..

Hmmm, I would still be inclined to think the swastika was added postwar.....
Bob
There's a good chance...
Eagle itself looks OK, swas looks odd.., would like to see a sharp close-up of that area..

Hello Peter,
Another Summer eagle fan, great, nice collection !
Let me guess...
From the pic I don't like 3,...., don't like 6.... and 7 needs a better look, might be KupAl or fake..
I'm curious..

Who has one in his collection ?
Nice condition or relic..,parts etc.
Era pics are also welcome.
This item belonged to flight crew who kept it in their special legpocket of the flightpants.
It's a aluminum telescopic flagpole, also part of the lifeboat..
It's a survival item, but was also used for making a sail in the small boat etc..
It comes with a yellow silk flag and a oilcloth pouch.
All info is welcome !

118 views and no additional comments..., this must be real boring stuff.., oh boy..
I've to admit ... Summer eagles are for girls actually, ...so what !?
I personally think these are one of the most gorgeous insignia, very realistic versus the countless karicatures we'll find among TR stuff.
Heer and Navy Summer eagles are nice, but they represent a eagle which doesn't exist, while some of these creatures are pretty close..., but that's just my way of looking at these ofcourse.

That last one has the most unusal of attachments, I have only seen three point fixings on army and naval eagles before this.
Yup, very unusual..., but I've good faith in this one.., never saw this type before..

Opinions on "M43" and white visor
in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment

Brass wouldn't make sense, if it's a solid brass eagle it's fake..and heavy..
Besides that brass can be soldered and don't needs crimped in prongs like this.
You'll only find a layer of brass under silver plated eagles , which are usually struck and thin.
Solid stuff is usually zink or potmetal as they like to call it, which is grey and most of the time has a thin layer of wash/paint..
If the eagle is really made of brass I say fake.
